Small Business Deals

Alright, so running a small business is not exactly cheap.  We may be considered as a “small” business, but most of us do not have a “small” overhead.  Whether it’s deals on office supplies or B2B services, I’ll be posting them here.  Every little bit helps.  Here’s a couple of savings and suggestions:

  • Free email, calendar, and document hostingGoogle apps will host up to 10 email accounts (10GB) under 1 domain.  If you own the domain and you have less than 10 staff, you can set each one up with an email account and coordinate your schedules and shared documents without spending a penny.
  • Free business cards – Most, if not everybody, have heard of VistaPrint.  They always offer FREE business cards.  This is great for businesses just starting out or if you’re an independent contractor.  Although you can customize with your own information, these are not cards you can customize with your own logo.  From time to time, VistaPrint does offer other products for free.  Last month, I was able to order free business cards, address labels, postcards, sticky notes, stamp, tote bag, and t-shirt.
  • Free press release distribution – PR Log will host a 500-word press release for free on their site.  It doesn’t come with all the bells and whistles, but not bad considering they include search engine distribution, 2 industry listings, and 5 keyword/tag listings.  The only bad thing is that the press releases are ad supported.  If you prefer not to have ads (possibly recommending other businesses), upgrade to a paid press release or try PR Web.  PR Web’s prices are reasonable and they’re better organized than PR Log…great for the non-PR people.
  • Office supplies – sign up for MaxPerks.  OfficeMax usually has better deals than Office Depot and Staples, often offering 1 cent deals on labels, copy paper, etc.  The way it works is you pay the full price for the item and receive a MaxPerks reward for a future purchase.  For example: buy a ream of paper $6.99 and receive $6.98 back in MaxPerks Rewards.  The trick is to make the investment of paying the full price on the first purchase and only buy with your MaxPerks rewards on subsequent purchases.  I’ll try to post the really good deals weekly.

Happy savings and have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!
